Abstract：Sister Carrie,the masterpiece by Theodore Dreiser,draws a wonderful outline of consumerism and naturalism in the course of the history of man and faithfully reproduces the urban life of America in the early 1920s.The author of this paper expounds the practical significance of this novel for modren life.
